Dear Castle Pines North Citizens: On Monday August 10th, the Castle Pines North Citizens for Tax Relief, comprised of concerned CPN residents, submitted a petition to the Castle Pines North Metro District (CPNMD), requesting dissolution under Colorado law.
Following the filing of the dissolution petition, CPNMD hired a public relations firm (with your tax dollars) and posted a position paper to their website which was later emailed to residents. Their accusation that the city, rather than concerned residents, was behind this petition is blatantly false.
The CPNMD position paper, in our opinion, has foolishly and recklessly forced this issue to the forefront of our community. This position paper is another example of how CPNMD has lost touch with its customers and constituents and lost site of its true goal.
The goal of the CPNMD these past many years has been to secure renewable water sources for our community. Everyone agrees upon the importance and magnitude of this issue. What we are disappointed in is CPNMD’s unwillingness to partner/integrate with the city on an issue of this magnitude; such a collaborative effort would result in a stronger and more cohesive body with which to secure renewable water while lowering fees and taxes for residents and businesses.
Please help us stop the CPNMD from dividing our community and holding it hostage with the proverbial noose in the shape of money for renewable water. We appreciate the magnitude of the issue of renewable water; but, we will not let CPNMD wildly mortgage our future in a pursuit that has produced minimal results.
